Traffic Update: Broad Street Median Work and Sidewalk Adjustments

As the Broad Street Improvement Project continues its progress, the City of Augusta is providing the following update regarding construction activities and traffic patterns for the current week.

Median Work Between 7th and 8th Streets

Construction is continuing on the inside lanes of Broad Street between 7th Street and 8th Street. Crews are focused on median improvements and infrastructure upgrades in this block. To accommodate this work, the inside lanes are restricted. However, the outside lanes remain open in both directions for through traffic.

Street and Sidewalk Construction: 12th to 13th Streets

Work on the “outside phasing” of the project is moving forward between 12th and 13th Streets.

• Street Access: The outside lanes between 12th Street and 13th Street are closed. The inside lanes remain open.
• Pedestrian Access: The sidewalk between 12th Street and 13th Street is currently closed to allow for the removal of existing asphalt and the installation of new curbing and flatwork.
• Business Access: While the main sidewalk is closed, all businesses remain accessible.

We appreciate the community’s continued patience as we modernize downtown Augusta’s infrastructure. Please exercise caution when driving near construction zones and be mindful of crews working in the roadway.
