5th Street, also known as Button Gwinnett Street, is classified as a collector street with an average daily volume of 4,500 vehicles per day. Notable landmarks along this street include the Augusta Utilities and Augusta Engineering Administration Building, Berkshire Guitars, the Augusta Fencers Club, Cranston Engineering, the Freedom Bridge, and the marina. This project will improve the segment between Gordon Hwy and Reynolds Street with a redesigned roadway configuration including bicycle lanes, a center turn lane, sidewalks, handicap facilities, and street lighting. This project has a projected budget of $5.1 million dollars.
