Project updates for Greene Street.
Work on the Broad Street Improvement Project is progressing as scheduled. Weather permitting, paving is scheduled for Friday, November 7 on Greene Street in both directions between 3rd Street to East Boundary.
We appreciate the community’s continued patience and cooperation as we enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall downtown experience for everyone.
Greene Street between 3rd Street and 4th Street will temporarily close on Wednesday, October 1, and Thursday, October 2, to allow for the installation of thermo brick crosswalks.
A detour plan will be in place to guide motorists around the closure. All businesses and homeowners in the area will be notified in advance, and coordination will take place directly with residents and business owners who need access during the closure.

Underground utility work should be complete along Greene Street by the end of August. After the utility work is complete, paving operations will begin shortly after . No change in traffic control until underground work is completed.
Ongoing work on Greene Street is in same locations as previous update.
Except outside lane closures to continue through the rest of February. Work will then shift to the inside lanes and the median island.
Piping work to continue along the outside lanes of Greene Street between Forsyth Street and Second Street. A detour will be in place for this portion of the project.
The inside lanes of Greene Street between 2nd Street and 3rd Street for the next two weeks. Work will include underground storm drain improvements and traffic signal upgrades.
No changes in the traffic control on Greene Street. The current closures will remain for the next few weeks.
The water main will be shut-off along the south side of Greene Street between 3rd Street and Forsyth Street starting on Saturday, Augusta 3, 2024. Water will be unavailable to the properties on the south side of the street between the hours of 9am to 6pm. All of the affected property owners have been notified.
Westbound Greene Street (towards downtown) will continue to be closed between 2nd St. and 4th St. for the next couple of weeks. A detour will be in place and expect delays traveling through this area.
