5th Street Update: Project Complete

5th Street Update: Paving Operations Starting

Starting this Thursday, March 13^th, 2025, paving operations will begin along 5^th Street between Reynolds Street and Gordon Hwy. Paving will begin at Reynolds Street and move Southbound towards Gordon Hwy. As the paving operations will require them to go through intersections, lane closures and detours will be in place as necessary. Paving operations are expected to take approximately 2 weeks. Expect delays along this corridor. Using alternate routes is recommended.

5th Street Update: Intersection Closure

The intersection of 5^th Street and Watkins Street will be closed this Thursday, February 26^th, through Friday, February 27^th for underground utility work. A detour is in place to direct traffic to 6^th Street. Expect traffic delays along this corridor.

5th Street Update: Finishing concrete work

Contractor is finishing outside concrete and brickwork. Outside lane closure will remain in place between Walton Way and Greene Street through the rest of February 2025. Watkins Street will remain closed at 5^th Street for the next two weeks. A detour will be in place to direct traffic around the closure.

5th Street Update: Concrete Work Continues

Intermittent lane closures will be in place between Telfair Street and Walton Way for the installation of concrete structures along the project length.

5th Street Update: Northbound Work Continues

Concrete work continues along the northbound side of 5th Street. Flaggers will be used to temporarily close lanes while construction work continues. Expect flagging operations during normal working hours.

5th Street Update: Work Near Walton Way

Work will continue on 5th Street between Walton Way and Gordon Hwy. Expect work to also move down 5th Street block by block towards Broad St. Lane closures will be present throughout the project limits. Expect shifting lane closures and delays along the project length.

5th Street Update: Water Line Installation

5th Street between Walker St. and Watkins St. will be intermittently closed and traffic detoured the week of July 29th for the relocation of an underground water line. Expect detours and traffic delays if you travel in this area.

5th Street Update: Repaving to Begin

Repaving activities will soon begin on 5th Street between Walton Way and Reynolds Street. All southbound lanes will be closed and traffic detoured along 5th Street starting at Broad Street and continuing through Walton Way. Resurfacing work is expected to begin next week. Flaggers will be in place from Greene Street to Telfair for work in those intersections.

5th Street Update: Lane Closures and Traffic Shifts

Work will begin near the intersection of Walton Way and 5th Street this week. Lane closures will be in place near the intersection on Gordon Hwy, Walton Way, and 5th Street. Expect slow traffic and delays.

Work will also be progressing at 5th Street and Fenwick Street. All southbound lanes will be closed periodically throughout the next couple of weeks as work continues near this location.
